Below is some invitation wording. Modern couples may choose to add opening statements such as "Come celebrate with us," or you may choose to change the traditional "request the honor of your presence at the marriage" to something like "Come laugh, dance and celebrate our wedding with us ".

Invitation etiquette for divorced and blended families

Standard Wording:
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Johnson
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Jessica Barr
to
John Cook
at the Anchorage Sheraton Hotel
Saturday, the Seventeenth of June
Eight o'clock in the evening

Both sets of parents are funding the wedding:
Mr. and Mrs. SAmel Johnson
and
Mr. and Mrs. Blake Cook
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their children
Jessica Barr and John Cook
etc.

If Bride's parents are hosting, but would like to include grooms parents on the invitation
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Johnson
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Jessica Barr
to Trevor Williams
son of Mr. and Mrs. William Williams
etc.

When the bride and groom are paying for the wedding themselves, the wording should read:
You are cordially invited to celebrate
the wedding of
Jessica Rose Barr
and
Samuel Niles Wilson Jr.
etc.

Brides parents are divorced:

Issued by the parent who raised her
Ms. Janet Myers
requests the honor of your presence
at the wedding of her daughter
Jessica Barr
etc.

Divorced parents are hosting the wedding together
Ms. Sandra Peterson
and
Mr. Jackson Hayes request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Jessica Hayes

Divorced parent and new stepparent are hosting the wedding:
Mr. and Mrs. William Peters
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of Mrs. Sanders daughter
Jessica Barr

Child of divorced and remarried parents both hosting the wedding
Mr. and Mrs. William Pearson
and
Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Clark
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter

etc.
