Theme Weddings. How to pull it off
without a "hitch." |
|
![]() |
Theme
weddings have become very popular over the last decade. In fact,
40% of couples will choose to plan their wedding around a favorite
theme. Some of these thems are simple like beach weddings
and others are more extravagent like getting married at a ball park
or exchanging rings while jumping out of a plane with their whole
wedding party in tow. Either way,
theme weddings are fun and completely personal. So
how can you pull
it off? |
A major problem that many engaged couples encounter when they are planning a theme wedding is that there is a heck of a lot more to research than just flowers and place settings. For example, suppose you and your fiancé both have some Irish ancestry and have decided that you want to have an Irish-themed wedding. How would you know that:
... and the list goes on! Although we can't answer all of your theme wedding questions, we will help on a few: Skydiving Wedding: Question: Both my husband and I are avid skydivers. He proposed in a plane on a jump and we want to "take the leap of our lives" doing what we love. Any suggestions on how we can do this? Answer: There are a few different things you could do. Find a fellow jumper to perform your ceremony on the climb to jump altitude. After you say "I do" kiss for the first time as a married couple in the plane. That way the moment is captured forever on video or camera. Then jump. Remember to blow a kiss to the camera man inside the plane. For something a little extra, you may want to hire a professional action photographer to jump with you. That way they can capture all of your post wedding (and jump) jitters. When you land, family and friends will probably embrace you, call you crazy and cry. If limos are your thing, have one waiting for you when you land and ride in style to your reception with your entourage. At the reception you could have the table center pieces decorated with skydivers and/or airplanes. And top your cake with the same. Masquarade Theme: Question: We are trying to pull off a masquerade theme for our wedding. I would love to have my guest dress up for this but I don't think they will be willing. We need a little help. Answer: Well so many ideas really.
It depends on your budget and location. Feathers are huge for this
theme. Dark rich colors and FABRIC FABRIC FABRIC. If you can't get
guests to dress up than think about having some sort of entertainment
that relates to it. Also you can do some really amazing stuff with
lighting and thats really inexpensive yet makes a huge impact. Nurse/Police Theme: (oh boy) Question: I am a nurse and my fiance' is a police officer. We want our wedding to be themed around that . Any suggestions on how to do that? Answer: What a fun idea. My first bit of advice is to skip the limo and come to your reception in an ambulence. Keep your wedding attire traditional but get a really cute policman garter. Line the aisle runner with police tape. Sew a pair of handcuffs (painted ivory or white) to the ringbearer’s pillow, and attach your wedding rings. Give the best man the key so the groom can unlock the rings. If you can pull it off, take a page from dog-friendly couples and consider having a K9 attendant in ballistic vest perform as the ring bearer. The most important part of a theme wedding is that the theme is truly brought to life. If you're going to go untraditional, make sure you go all the way. And whatever you do, have a bunch of fun!
